You learn something everyday – when Spencer told me he had to straighten the various stones he uses, I nodded and thought I knew what he was talking about…he mentioned today that it had taken him 3 ½ hours to straighten stones last night after servicing scissors all day.
I was amazed and a bit mystified – I confess I thought it was all about placement of the stones on his workbenches – shocking, I know! Just as well it’s Spencer who does all the servicing…

For those of you like me who don’t know, the stones have to be completely straight all round before every pair of scissors is worked on, and as I discovered, this can sometimes take a lot of time. In Spencer’s own words
